Larry Herman

Lawrence Herman. An institution at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He was a beloved criminal law professor for an astonishing 53 years. Larry loved teaching and was hugely involved in the Moot Court program. He was strongly opposed to the death penalty; he wrote many papers, gave many TV interviews, and even testified before the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee to oppose a proposed death penalty bill in 1981. Larry passed away this summer(2022) at the age of 93.

I knew Larry as a step-father-in-law. He was a lively, witty conversation partner and storyteller. An enthusiastic foodie and dessert person. I am so very glad I took these photographs of him in his home in the Fall of 2020. Especially glad I could capture his half-grin, if you knew Larry, you knew this grin. Which is why it gets both color AND b+w treatment. What a Mensch.
